Shiatsu massaging is a kind of Asian massaging technique where no oil is involved. There is also no rubbing process in this technique. The person who receives the massage could also be fully clothed during the massage session. Shiatsu also incorporates the acupuncture theories and “chi” or the body energy is targeted and is moved along the requisite energy pathways called meridians. The balance of “chi” i.e., the body energy is inevitable for optimum health, according to the international school of Shiatsu. Like other alternatives of massaging there is risk of little injury and it has to be performed with trained massaging therapists who can minimize these risks. In other forms of massaging, there is a risk of allergic reactions because of the oils used during the massage which is absolutely absent here though there may be temporary tenderness at the site of pressure or swelling due to pressure involved in particular places. A typical massage therapist acquires a minimum of 200 to 640 hours of training to perform a professional massage.
