looking for something to do at home. currently hit the gym- 30 min on treadmill, 30 min weight training. want total body workout. thanks!
Hi, Kragain (again)!
I just answered one of your other questions, by directing you to the list of dvds I recommend here: http://www.optimumlifenow.com/Top_Fitnes s_DVDs.html
It seems you have the basics covered: cardio and weight training/resistance. I would recommend also incorporating some toning/strength/balance to get the most of your workout and a true total body workout. Yoga is great for that, even if only 10 minutes a day.
Remember to eat healthy too, in order to support your active lifestye and get the best benefit from your workouts. There are some great tips here: http://www.squidoo.com/howtoeathealthy
Good for you for staying fit, and best of luck finding a work out that suits you best!

I'm looking for some good beginner workout videos. What do you use that works for you.
I currently don't get any exercise and am looking to get my body in shape. I'm not the type to go to the gym, so I was hoping to find some at home workout videos. (I just quit smoking 8 months ago, so this is me trying to take a step in the right direction.)
I love the Firm videos. They aren't cheesy, they get right to buisness and you actually feel it when you're working out! I definitely recommend their abs workout and leg workout. Two best exercise tapes I've ever had!!!

I'm just trying to find a good aerobic workout I can do at home cuz I hate going to the gym!! But I don't really care for your typical video workout.
A GREAT workout--one of the BEST workouts for cardio and for literally every cell in your body is "rebounding." This exercise is performed on a rebounder--which is like a mini-trampoline. It is very easy to do, once you get the hang of it, which should happen fairly quickly. It is TREMENDOUS FUN! You may become addicted to this. You'll feel rejuvenated and joyful! AND--you only need to work up to 15-20 minutes 3-4 times/week to gain the benefits. In addition, the rebounder does not take up a large amount of space--you can purchase one that actually folds in half and store it under your bed or in a closet.
NASA uses rebounding to get their astronauts back into shape after they've returned from space. It will exercise every cell in your body and will actually strengthen each cell's membrane (cell wall/protective barrier). You won't get this with any other exercise. An excellent workout to use in conjunction with pilates/yoga/tai chi, etc. Go to www.urbanrebounding.com to learn more and to order one if you decide it's for you.
You can also "google" Al Carter--he's the father of reboundology. There are a number of books on the subject that you can probably check out at amazon.com.
As with any exercise program start slowly, use your common sense and--this is critically important--LISTEN TO YOUR BODY.
Hope this is helpful. Have fun and be well!

due to my work hours, im no longer able to make it to the gym everyday so I was looking at purchasing a workout video to do at home when the gym is closed so I can keep up with my fitness routine. Turbo Jam looks pretty fun, anyone have any suggestions for good videos? I find these videos are quite pricey so I want some outside opinions before purchasing one.
buy them from amazon.com...used are usually pretty cheap! u can get like a 20 dollar dvd for 5 bucks...here are my favorites:
1. taebo-killer cardio workout..and I think its fun!
2. Cindy's next challenge- extremely effective and i like it.
3. core secrets
So I need a good workout video for home because I can't afford to go to the gym...

Biggest Loser Season 8, Episode 5: Wheel of Temptations
Naturally, her fellow competitors didn’t want her to land on the golden ticket and have the power once again, but since she did win the most sought-after prize on the wheel, they had no choice but to leave their fate in her hands.
More game playing from TraceyAlison announced that the temptation challenge was over and gave Tracey some time to think about the decision ahead of her, which she made on her own, without help from anyone. Of course, the “Biggest Loser” contestants knew Tracey would choose the teams to benefit herself.
Moments later, everyone headed back outside. Bob and Jillian were a little disappointed when they learned that Tracey had the power again, but there was nothing they could do but wait and see what Tracey had decided.
Before revealing who was on which team, Tracey announced that Bob would be the trainer for her team (blue), and Jillian would train the black team. With the trainers chosen, Tracey divulged the new teams. The blue team included Tracey, Mo, Allen, Liz, Rudy and Rebecca, and the black team was Daniel, Shay, Abby, Danny, Amanda and Dina.
How to Get a Full Body Workout at Home | HealthMad
Who wants to make the trek to the gym every day to exercise? The good news? You don’t have to. There are lots of advantages to doing a full body at home workout. Not only is a gym membership expensive, but health clubs are usually overcrowded. It’s frustrating when you’re on a time schedule and you have to wait in line to use a piece of equipment. Plus, exercise clubs are usually hot and stuffy and you have to worry about catching the latest virus going around – especially when the person next to you on the treadmill has a non-stop, hacking cough. Doing a full body at home workout lets you establish your own hours for getting fit and you don’t have to pay a membership fee. Here’s how to get the most out of an at home workout.
Get the proper equipmentYou don’t need a treadmill or a fancy elliptical machine to get a good full body workout at home. Start by investing in a sturdy mat for floor work and two sets of dumbbells – a lighter set for small muscle groups and heavier ones for larger muscles. You can buy more weights later as you progress in your workout. Another alternative to dumbbells is use resistance bands for strength training. For the cardio portion of your workout, you can buy a step for doing step aerobics or a jump rope, but you don’t need either. They just offer additional variety.
