CANTON Grace E. Casselman has a routine that gets her 86-year-old body moving, lifts her spirits and gives her a chance to socialize.
On Tuesday and Thursday mornings she wakes up early and drives from her home in Colton to participate in a free senior citizen exercise class offered at St. Lawrence Universitys fitness center.
Im tired when I leave the class, but I feel wonderful, Mrs. Casselman said as she took a break from walking a lap on the schools indoor track. If I wasnt coming to the fitness center, Id be sleeping in. This gets me going.
Others said the class helps lower their blood pressure, improve flexibility and increase stamina. The chance to visit with other seniors is another perk.
