Welcome to Biggest Loser: the Resort
Has spawned a health resort. The Biggest Loser Resort is, aptly, at Fitness Ridge in Utah. The resort is structured along the same principles that guide the program, offering a boot-camp experience, a stringent kilojoule-controlled diet and counselling from experts (but the show's fitness trainers, Jillian and Bob, aren't on the program in Utah).
An average day has at least six hours of physical exercise, including hiking in the surrounding Snow Canyon State Park, swimming, kickboxing and Pilates. Guests are served three meals a day, with kilojoule intake limited to 5040. There's a minimum-stay requirement of one week but no maximum.
The dreaded weigh-in, a grossly compelling feature of both the US and local versions of the hit show, starts and ends visits. A week-long inclusive program is $US1995 ($2164) for a private room and $US7200 for a four-week stay.
