I'm a woman who has never worked out since high school and have a home gym (my husbands, and he's never home to show me how to use it either.) I would like to get toned all over, but don't know the excersises or reps or weight I need to use....

I just bought a home gym so I can get strength training in with my exercise routine. I also have an elliptical and I plan on alternating between the two every other day.
I need to know the best workout routine to start with for strength...
You should start out slowly. Do at least 5 reps. in a set. At least once a day. Your workout should be at least 1 hour long.
I wonder about the reality of Bowflex or NordicTrack or that Chuck Norris inclined thing. I like the idea of working out in my garage but is there really a hard body waiting to be sculpted?

to get flexible the only thing you can do is stretch... and flexibility will help iwth muscle growth and tone so it is very important

i was going to the gym for a while with a 5 day routine working all muscles with many different exercises and it just seemed too much for me, especially when i usually like to keep things simple. so i changed my workout to the following;

Squat! You'll never see progress if you don't squat and dead lift.
Otherwise it looks good. But you won't be after gains if you're using body weight. You need to stress your muscles both with work AND progressive weights.
