it depends on the substrate and moisture considerations. I'm guessing it's a decent basement with concrete floors that is dry, in which case you can do carpet or rubber mat. In either case I would use the kind with interlocking squares as you only...

I'd stay away from any floor that could be damaged by moisture, because a garage floor may not have a vapor barrier and ground moisture may come through.
Sheet vinyl (some still call it Linoleum) is glue down or perimeter glue application...
I just have a bench, some dumbells and a standard weight bar that I'm putting in a spare bedroom. The carpet is pretty dirty and I wanted to know what would be a good alternative for the flooring. I thought of plastic floor mats and remnant carpet.
dude the cheapest thing is hard rubber... u def need that id you are using weights so if you drop the weights nothing would get damaged... its wait gyms have.. plastic floor mats are ok but try getting that hard rubber.. its better..
i have a home-gym and currently there is just a concrete floor. I got interlocking floor mats from york but they cover a small area and are pricey. I'm looking for mats to cover the entire room, and although i'm not sure on measurements, it will need
You might like FLOR, do-it yourself carpet tiles. Is there a reason the whole floor needs to be done in matting? I would think you might like some areas, such as for equipment, with a more solid surface than foam floor mats?
I'm looking for gym flooring for an at-home gym...at a reasonable price? Anyone know of the best place to look?
I got mine as "Shop" flooring from Harbor Frieght for about $0.50 a square foot.
so we are doing a home gym and the room it's normal not too big but not small .. what floor is for gym i mean it's for ballet ... ??
I would install a hardwood floor, probably maple. It's light, which helps with motivation, solid, but comfortable to exercise on. Hope this helps.

C&J: When chocolate isn't a good thing
Some time ago, perhaps a decade past, someone in their infinite wisdom decreed that everything should be painted brown. We’re not certain who that someone was but, in design terms, it seems the whole of North America took heed. Arriving on Canadian shores, we were charged by our TV bosses to paint a brighter landscape across the very terrain we’ve since grown to love. And the rest, as they say, is history.
But brown? What were people thinking? Sure, as a decorating solution, brown can be warm and cosy — if used correctly — but, for the most part, when executed with anything less than a precision gun, it will muddy space leaving in its wake a depressingly dowdy feel. Come on; we’re not being unkind, you’re looking at the same “before” picture as us. Brown accents are one thing but if you overpower efforts with too much, then deep dark trouble lies ahead.
