life fitness elliptical machine calories burned?

I use a life fitness machine for about 55 minutes a day my heart rate is about 150 after 25 minutes the machine says im burning about 850 calories but im being told there is no way i could be burning that much do you think this is true

No I don't think thats possible, for 55 minutes you should be looking at a maximum of 600 calories burnt. If you want to know the exact number of calories burnt you should invest in a heart rate monitor.

Is running on an exercise bike the same as running?

Does it burn the same amount of calories?
Which one is better for losing weight?
I run 1.25 miles in twenty minutes by the way.

It varies. Someone who runs slow and steady rather than fast for the same distance will obviously not burn as many calories

If you try hard you can probably burn as much as you would running.

Heart rate while excercising on elliptical?

I know there's been a million questions about this but I still can't seem to understand this. My husband and I bought a real nice Life Fitness Elliptical about a month ago. I really like this machine. I would like to lost about 20 pounds (of fat of course). I read that I should take 220 - age and then multiply by 65% if I'm out of shape. Since I'm 39, this turned out to be about 118 for me and I felt like I could literally take a nap during this workout. So, I went with the 80% (around 145 heart rate) instead even though I'm not in good shape and it's still been okay but I can workout 45 minutes and not feel that put out. Should I go higher? Can someone please explain this all to me?
Or maybe I need to exercise longer?

Increase your rate if you are able.
Nothing beats healthy eating.
Eat a combination of lean protein and healthy carbohydrates every few hours throughout the day to speed up fat loss and maintain stable energy levels. For best results, eat six times a day. Weight train intensely, three times per week on alternating days with aerobic exercise three times per week.

Protein (lean chicken, fish and beans)
Carbs from fruits and vegetables
Drink 10 to 20 glasses water per day NO SODA

It's almost as if Lori Kikuchi leads a double life.

The 43-year-old mother of three works full time as an educational assistant at Iao Intermediate School, shuttles her family around to appointments and tries to stay on top of tasks with her husband, Kats, at their Wailuku home. But get Lori Kikuchi in a CrossFit gym, and she transforms into an Olympic-style weightlifter who can deadlift 245 pounds and throw down mean consecutive pull-ups.

She's an everyday person turned fitness beast. And she's not alone.

There's Mary Swiger, a bartender whose handstands would make bystanders dizzy; Nalu Yen, a DLNR enforcement officer whose endurance has improved since losing 20 pounds; and Kalaheo Macadangdang, a junior at Baldwin High School who recently discovered that his shoulder press is pretty dang good.
