Does the eliptical trainer do anything for your bum and if so what does it actually do for it? Thanks
if you use it on a higher resistance it will tone it up
Elliptical trainers are low impact workout machines that build strength and endurance. Learn the benefits of using this powerful machine with tips ...
I don't have access to a stationary bike, but I do have access to an eliptical trainer to use during my lunch hour at work. On the eliptical, I like to set the resistance as high as I can, but still keeping a pace that will get my heart and lungs moving. Is this likely to help me train for cycling?
Sure it will. Any cardio conditioning will help. the eliptical is probably the best over all exercise device there is.
As for legs, not so much. The muscles used for walking are very different from those used for cycling. Only way to build and condition(tone) them is with the up and down motion of cycling. Spinning on a stationary bike is good, but can''t anything beat just getting out there and riding.

Would I burn the same amount of calories using the eliptical trainer for 30 minutes and running on the treadmill for 30 minutes at 5.8-6.0 mph?
treadmill is good for cardio health while elliptical is better for burning fat. As far as burning calories, it's only an estimate and it's most accurate if you hold the sensors. The bottom line is the higher your heart rate, the more calories you will burn. No matter if it's on elliptical or treadmill.

i recently got an eliptical trainer, and i want to lose fat in my legs. i plan to run on it everyday...but for how long do i have to run per day to burn fat?
is 20 minutes good enough? or does it have to be longer?
thanks so much!
Well, you definitely have to run more than 15 minutes before fats start to get burned. The best is to run 30 minutes, take a 3 minute break, and then go back for another 30 minutes. Note that when you are taking the 3 minute break, do not sit down as you will get a big bum if you do.
Good luck! :D
I am looking to buy an eliptical trainer and I have seen ones for $250-$300 at Target and K-Mart. I dont know how good these ones are but as long as they move/work I think it will do fine. I am looking at a couple fitness equipment stores around my area but they all only sell ones that are over $1,000 which I am not paying. Can anyone suggest a moderately priced eliptical trainer that has atleast a decent stride length or a little higher than basic????
I got mine at Sports Authority on sale for $400 (which sounds pricy, but it was worth the money for how well it rode). and their prices change often, i belive the lady told me that they have a sale every month or so. i would contact them and verify when their next sale is. Good Luck!

Elliptical Trainer Reviews Dont Get The Facts Straight ...

There are many misconceptions about the elliptical. I think this is a result of the large number of elliptical trainer reviews appearing on websites every day. In an effort to tout the benefits of elliptical training, Webmasters post the usual laundry list of benefits of high-profile ellipticals. In the process, like the old game of "telephone", each time repeating the message, little or sometimes significantly distorted in the telling.
To make matters worse, in some cases, medical professionals and fitness, in collaboration with manufacturers of elliptical trainers offer unsubstantiated or even false information. This article discusses...
