Does anyone have an elliptical at home. Which are the best ones?
The best lower end brands are Horizon and Keys units. Spirit also has a couple of lower priced units coming out in Sept-Oct that are very good and will have great warranties. Keep away from anything by Icon Fitness (Proform, Welso, Image, Epic).

I'm considering buying one and just wanted to know what the best one would be for my home personal use.
I think it is best to start out with the cheaper models. Mainly because a lot of home gym equipment ends up becoming clothes hangers or dust collectors. I would also go and try out the different machines. Go somewhere like dicks sporting goods that will have a decent selection. Try them all out...I am a fairly large man...6'4" 280 lbs....the smaller ones don't have a long enough stride for me.....and perhaps it may be too long of a stride for you. I would just go and test them out and buy a cheaper one to see how much you will actually use it. You can always upgrade if you are wearing the one out that you have! Starting out you don't need something tooooo fancy either.
I am looking for an elliptical machine less than $600. Where can I go to get reviews or comparisons of different machines? Or which brand is the best?
I do daily reviews on treadmills and ellipticals if you want to check my site out. Top brands in the budget range are Horizon, Schwinn and Merit. Stay away from anything by Icon Fitness (Proform, Image, Weslo, Nordic Track) as they have a reputations for low quality parts and equipment that breaks down quickly.

I recently got a SOLE E-95, it is expensive but a very sturdy proffessional type machine... It is more difficult ( higher resistance at lowest setting ) than the Precor I am used to at the gym, but the sole s easily 1/2 the price of a precor home unit.. Look up thier website and look up reviews for them on the net... not all ellipticals are created equal and believe me if you get a cheap one with a 90 day warrenty it will often last for 90 dasys, this has a 5 year in home warrenty ( meaning they come to your house to fix it if something goes wrong )
DLCCC great way to beat the winter blues
It’s been eight years since the Detroit Lakes Community & Cultural Center (DLCCC) first opened its doors to the public, in the fall of 2001.
Since then, the $9.35 million facility has grown into its role as a multi-generational, multi-use facility that serves not only the community of Detroit Lakes, but the entire region.
Betsy Norby, an avid runner, said that she enjoys the year-round convenience of the center’s indoor track and treadmill machines, as well as its training classes for marathon runners.
“For me the most important thing is that it’s open during the winter,” she said. “My cutoff point for running outside is zero (degrees), so I’ve been pounding the treadmill a lot lately.
Choosing the Best Elliptical Exercise Equipment: Burn Calories ...
Cardio exercise is the number one way to lose weight and burn calories. There are several home gym equipment machines to choose from. A treadmill is one of the most popular, but these machines can be hard on the knees and hips. For an alternative cardio workout machine, the exerciser can choose an elliptical. An elliptical trainer is similar to a treadmill, but it isn’t as hard on the knees. An elliptical raises the heart rate, makes the user sweat, and it is a great way to lose weight. The best elliptical exercise equipment comes with just the basic options to give the exerciser a good bearing on the amount of calories burned and the distance achieved.
